“Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.” – Jonathan Swift
Sometimes it is really hard to draw what we see, because we look too directly at the object. The same can be said of many of the challenges we face in our lives.
The solution is often times found in the areas surrounding these challenges or in this case, the subject of this month’s assignment – to make a negative space drawing.
Find an arrangement of items you would like to draw; a couple of chairs, a bicycle against a fence, a tree shedding its leaves. Make it as complicated or simple as you like. Sit yourself down and look at the shapes created by the space around the objects. Draw these shapes and watch as your object comes to life.
November’s assignment will build on your visualizing negative space
Bring your negative drawing to your local November bart happy hour.
